Exfoliate your way to a radiant skin
After a summer full of sunshine, our skin may look dull and spotted. Fortunately, exfoliation can be the solution! By regularly removing dead skin cells, you stimulate cell renewal and get fresh, radiant skin. But how exactly does it work, and which exfoliant is right for your skin type?
WHY EXFOLIATE?
A refreshed, radiant complexion: removing dead skin cells gives your skin a more vibrant and even appearance.
- Reduced appearance of pores: exfoliation helps unclog pores and refines skin texture.
- Better absorption of skincare products: exfoliated skin absorbs the active ingredients from your skincare products more effectively, enhancing their performance.
- Reduced fine lines and wrinkles: by stimulating cell renewal, exfoliation can help reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Combatting sun damage: some exfoliants contain enzymes that gently break down dead skin cells, making them ideal for sensitive skin.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU EXFOLIATE?
Our skin renews itself approximately every 28 days, but this process can slow down due to factors such as age, stress and environmental factors. By exfoliating regularly, you support this natural renewal. The ideal exfoliation frequency depends on your skin type:
- Dry skin: 1-2 times per week
- Combination skin: 2-3 times per week
- Oily skin: 3-4 times per week
- Sensitive skin: once per week
Note: Over-exfoliating can damage your skin barrier. Always listen to your skin and adjust the frequency as needed.
WHICH EXFOLIANT IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
There are different types of exfoliants, each with their own unique qualities:
- Physical exfoliants: contain small granules that physically remove dead skin cells.
- Chemical exfoliants: use acids (AHAs and BHAs) to dissolve dead skin cells.
- AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids): like glycolic acid, work on the skin’s surface and reduce fine lines.
- BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids): like salicylic acid, get deeper into pores and are effective against acne and blemishes.
- Enzymatic exfoliants: contain enzymes that gently break down dead skin cells, making them ideal for sensitive skin.
OUR EXFOLIATION SELECTION
OUR PROFESSIONAL PEELINGS
Our Skin Experts offer various professional peels in mild and stronger versions. We use Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), TCA peels, and combined safe chemical peels, such as the Mesopeel and Environ Cool Peel, or the Mesoestetic Cosmelan for severe pigmentation. These treatments are tailored to your specific skin needs and can help reduce fine lines, pigmentation spots, acne, and other skin issues.
TIP: After an exfoliation treatment, it’s important to protect your skin from the sun with a high SPF sunscreen.
